Poster presentations: instructions

(In English only)

Language

Posters should be written in English. Please prepare posters in portrait format. The poster will be shown all time during the conference.

Format

Maximum size of a poster is 70 cm wide by 100 cm high. The poster should be easily readable from a distance of about 2 meters.

Logistics

Upon arrival at the conference, poster presenters will receive directions to boards marked with their individual poster ID number. Drawing pins will be provided and are the only accepted type of fastener on the boards.

The time of the poster sessions will be shown in the program. Be sure to be available for questions at your poster during "your" poster session.

The organizers would like to place your poster(s) on web in pdf-format. To have your poster included, please send a pdf prepared at minimum A4 size to the conference. The file should start with the first author’s or presenter’s surname and initials, as e.g. “WhiteAA-poster.ppt”. Please use the name of the file as e-mail subject.

Speed-talks

Posters will be orally presented in one of the conference languages in two-minute “speed-talks” in the conference lecture hall. Please prepare one (or 2) power-point slide(s) in English (alt. a jpg or gif file with size suitable for transformation into a power point slide) for the “speed-talk” presentation.

Send the slide to the organizers in an e-mail to bjorn.hatteng@uit.no before the conference starts. The name of the file should start with the first author’s or presenter’s surname and initials, as e.g. “WhiteAA-speed.ppt”. Please use the name of the file as e-mail subject.

On arrival at the conference, make sure to check the time for your “speed-talk”. Contact the chairperson of your “speed-talk” session (shown in the program) prior to the session.

Helpful hints about poster design

The key objective of a poster is to provide a brief and clear overview of your work so that people, who are really interested, can ask you for more information. Loading your poster with too much information and non-relevant adornment might be counter-productive. Use clear, large fonts, simple graphics, and pictures when available and necessary.
